"Lexlin’s Bit O’Honey
Everyone always asks where to find the safest, tried and true kid confidence booster horses, and while it is hard to find them- it’s not entirely impossible!
*drumroll*
Your search is over! Honey is the barn’s babysitter, the one we pull out for timid or cautious riders who need to realize that riding can actually be so much fun when you are paired with the right horse. She is so sweet and patient.
The perfect age of 11; plenty young, but old enough to be settled and sane.
Standing 14hh, She is a really great height for kids or adults, and she is built thick and sturdy, with gorgeous feathers, long flowing mane and a very thick tail!
Honey has excellent ground manners, great in the stall or easy to catch out in the big pasture. She will drop her head into your halter and happily follow wherever you lead. She stands patiently while everyone grooms and tacks her up, for the farrier or bathing and braiding. Being pampered is her favorite, and she enjoys all of the little kids petting her neck and planting kisses on her nose.
One of my favorite things about Honey, is how user friendly and easy to ride she is! Limited experience? No problem! You aren’t going to accidentally cue her into the wrong thing. She’s so steady and easy going, you can just relax and enjoy the ride.
Honey has carried all manner of kids safely up steep rocky banks, over fallen trees, through the slick muddy areas, down the narrow little goat trails weaving around the bluffs, through the river, and even into the thicker brushy areas. Honey just picks her way along carefully, and totes our most precious cargo like the trail veteran she is.
Honey is sure footed and seasoned, and she will go at the front, bringing up the rear or anywhere in the middle of a group. We consider her to be more whoa than go, she prefers to walk, but she will pick up and move at a faster pace if you ask her.
The world needs more “unflappable” horses, the ones you can put your sisters boyfriends cousins grandma on, and not have to worry about spooking or running off, and that’s our Honey.
She has been ridden on trails by kids ranging from 5 and up. Even big adult kids!Lol! She doesn’t mind traffic, dogs or flags, other farm animals, tarps or really anything else that we’ve come across. She’s pushed cattle around and stands patiently while the kids goof around and fake falling off. She looks like a mother hen, waiting for her chicks to regroup. I can’t say enough good about this mare, and I know that whoever buys her will be very happy with their investment. She is the definition of a steady Eddie, and you can not find these horses just anywhere. During the summer she was caught countless times by the kids, completely unassisted- and they just hop on bareback and ride around the farm solo. The peace of mind that comes with having a dependable, trustworthy horse like her around, is priceless.
Honey will make the perfect addition to your family. Clean legged, sound, no vices or bad habits and sells 100% in every way.
If you’d like to schedule a meet and greet with Honey or would like any additional information, contact Rachel Vick at 931-623-1706 Honey had a Pre Purchase Exam completed on 1-29-25 by Equine Vet, John Laster DVM, at Todd County Animal Clinic. She passed with flying colors!
